Lenovo Slim Pro 2023: Discover The New MacBook Alternatives
To this day, many companies producing high-end Windows laptops are contending to offer the best MacBook alternative in the market, and Lenovo is no exception to this with their Slim lineup of premium consumer laptops. For 2023, the company has announced their newest batch consisting of a refreshed 14-inch Slim 7i, 14.5-inch Slim Pro 7 and the more expensive Slim Pro 9i available in 14.5 and 16-inch configurations.
As many reviewers have mentioned, Lenovo’s Slim devices are undoubtedly among the best-built consumer devices for the money, but they can be rather unexciting compared to their competition. This year, it appears Lenovo is trying to mix things up by pushing these laptops for the mobile creative professional demographic (who’d otherwise go for the usual MacBook) with their variety of innovative features.
An example of these features is the updated version of Lenovo’s X Power suite on their flagship Slim Pro 9i laptop. The company states that this software helps significantly speed up video editing times, with ‘drastically sped-up software preview, rendering, and exports’ and a 62.5 percent thermal capacity increase over previous generations.
Moreover, all the new Slim Pro laptops come equipped with an updated Premium Suite, which is, as Lenovo puts it, “a set of new and updated hardware features designed to enhance the user experience.” This suite includes a collection of features such as:
- a privacy shutter
- an infrared and time of flight (ToF) camera sensor
- a larger trackpad
- new 1.5mm dish cap keys
- a four-microphone setup
The Slim Pro 9i, catered towards what Lenovo calls “consummate creators”, features a 165Hz, 3.2k display, 13th Gen Intel Core processors, and Nvidia GPUs with options up to an RTX 4070. The more affordable 120Hz, 3K screen Slim Pro 7 with AMD Ryzen processors under the hood is more geared towards “multitasking content creators” and comes equipped with up to an Nvidia RTX 3050. And finally, the Slim 7i that’s best for “on-the-go creators” only has Intel’s integrated graphics.
The Slim Pro 7 and Slim 7i are expected to be first released in North America by April 2023 with a starting price of $1,199.99 and $1,179.99, respectively, while the Slim Pro 9i is slated to be available in May. The 14.5-inch Slim Pro 9i model starts at $1,699.99, and the 16-inch model starts at $1,799.99.
Conclusion
Hot on the heels of their latest announcements of products and solutions at CES 2023, Lenovo continues to push out premium quality products for everyone, from the most passionate content creators to the everyday work-from-home employee. And while the company’s Slim Pro line of products is designed and marketed to be excellent MacBook alternatives, only time will tell if they live up to such standards once they are available for purchase.
